Wednesday’s 5-0 victory over FC Porto may rank among the most complete team displays Jordan Henderson has played in, but the captain wants Liverpool to use their training camp in Marbella to improve further with the season’s most important period looming.

The Reds produced a near-perfect European away performance to take command of their Champions League last-16 tie, with Sadio Mane’s hat-trick being supplemented by goals from Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino at Estadio do Dragao.

Jürgen Klopp’s squad then travelled to Spain on Thursday for a four-day work-out in different surroundings to Melwood - an opportunity Henderson is eager to maximise with the challenges ahead in mind.

“I think after the game on Wednesday, we’ll recover for the first couple of days and then we’ll get some good sessions in over the weekend on the training pitch, on things we need to work and improve on for the games coming up,” the skipper told Liverpoolfc.com in Andalusia.

“I think it’ll be a good camp for us to recover and then get ready for next week.”

And, while acknowledging Wednesday’s win as one of the best all-round displays he’s been involved in, Henderson challenged the Reds to play at a similar level for the remainder of the campaign and beyond.

“It’s certainly up there because it’s a difficult place to go,” the midfielder said.

“They’re a tough opponent so to go there, put a performance on like that and get that result was brilliant for us as a team.

“Hopefully it can give us great confidence going forward, but at the same time we cannot get too carried away - we’ve got to stay focused on what we need to do. It was a great game and hopefully there’ll be many more before the end of the season.

“We’ve got the return leg coming up in a couple of weeks. The job is only half done and it’s another big game for us - and before then we’ve got Premier League games that are huge for us as well. The games come thick and fast.

“It was a great experience on Wednesday night and hopefully there’ll be more like that in the future.”
