Liverpool will welcome back Sadio Mane when they take on Spartak Moscow in the second match of Champions League Group E tonight.

Mane is eligible for the European fixture and his first Reds appearance since the 2-2 draw with Sevilla at Anfield, following his three-game domestic suspension.

Jürgen Klopp said it ‘makes sense’ that the Senegal international starts the match in Russia given his availability, but stopped short of confirming his place in the team.

The manager named a 21-man squad to travel to Moscow, with Ben Woodburn joining the U19s for their UEFA Youth League contest against the same opponents.

Loris Karius will start in goal, Klopp revealed ahead of the game, after playing in the aforementioned meeting with Sevilla on Merseyside.

The boss told Liverpoolfc.com en route to Moscow that the line-up would be finalised on Tuesday morning but admitted Trent Alexander-Arnold will ‘probably’ be in the XI.

Joe Gomez is suspended due to his red card in the previous Champions League tie.

Three successive starts, and most recently an outstanding display in the Premier League win at Leicester City, mean Philippe Coutinho is ‘really back’ to full fitness according to Klopp.

Spartak’s most significant injury concern ahead of the game has been in the case of Dutch midfielder Quincy Promes, who missed his team’s training session on Monday.

“It’s still uncertain if he will play tomorrow,” said the coach, Massimo Carrera, in his pre-match press conference. “I’ll have to discuss it with our doctors tonight.”
