Determination was cited as the key to Liverpool finally breaking down Crystal Palace through Sadio Mane's winner at Anfield on Saturday.

The Reds’ efforts had yielded no reward in the opening 70 minutes of the Premier League clash, with genuine goalscoring chances often at a premium.

But Mane finally found a way through the Eagles defence and took full advantage when a fortuitous bounce of the ball presented the No.19 with an opportunity to send a finish past Wayne Hennessey.

“It was hard work. We were waiting for that,” the forward told Liverpoolfc.com after the final whistle.

“We tried to do our best and win in front of our fans. We’re very happy to get the three points. It’s always important to try to believe until the end. That’s what we did and finally we got the reward.”

Mane’s second-half strike made it two in two Premier League outings for the Senegal international, who was equally cool in notching during the 3-3 draw with Watford last weekend.

“I’m very happy to score goals for my team. The more important thing is three points and we got them today,” he added.
