When the Reds have worn green – a brief kit history
Green is set to return to Liverpool's away kit for 2023-24, continuing a major theme for the club's alternative strips over the years.
The new Nike away kit for the next campaign was officially unveiled on Friday and is available to pre-order ahead of its launch on July 7.

It takes inspiration from the club’s 1995-96 green and white strip and is the latest of many kit designs in Reds history to include green.
Here, we take a look back at some more examples…
For the majority of Liverpool’s first century of existence, white and yellow had almost exclusively provided the change of colour on their away kits.
Indeed, it was in the Reds’ 100th season – 1991-92 – that green first made an appearance.
The design featured a near-fully green shirt with white trim and would continue, with modifications to the crest, sponsor and manufacturer, for the following campaign too.
Green then provided the trim to an updated white and black edition of the away strip for two further years between 1993 and 1995.
The theme was maintained into the 1995-96 season as the aforementioned popular green and white checked shirt and green shorts, that serve as inspiration for the latest edition, were released.

Reds legend Robbie Fowler certainly remembers it fondly; the striker netted an outstanding double at Old Trafford while wearing that kit, during what was his most prolific single season at Anfield.
After a break of three years, green was back as the main colour of the away kit for 1999-2000, before white and yellow designs again took preference.
Excluding its frequent use as the Carlsberg sponsor logo colour, it would be almost two decades before the club opted for a green second strip, though it would feature in three editions of the third kit.
The white and green version of 2006-07 is forever linked with Liverpool’s stunning comeback win over Barcelona at Camp Nou in the Champions League knockout phase.
A deeper green was deployed in 2008-09 and then, towards the opposite end of the colour’s spectrum, a ‘toxic’ green effort featured during 2016-17.
Subtle green and white checks returned as the Reds’ away strip for a 2017-18 season that saw Jürgen Klopp’s men reach the Champions League final.
In recent years, teal – a green-blue – has been utilised by Liverpool on two separate occasions: a lighter shade as the away kit in 2020-21 and a deeper texture for the third kit last term.
